Diagnoses and manages autoimmune and inflammatory conditions affecting joints, muscles, and connective tissues, such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and psoriatic arthritis. Conducts comprehensive patient evaluations, interprets complex diagnostic tests including blood markers and imaging, develops individualized treatment plans, and adjusts immunosuppressive and biologic therapies. Monitors disease activity and progression over time, aiming to improve patient quality of life and prevent long-term damage.

Significantly improves the quality of life for patients suffering from chronic and often debilitating autoimmune and inflammatory diseases by managing pain, reducing inflammation, and preventing irreversible joint and organ damage.

On the job

Conduct thorough physical examinations and patient interviews to assess symptoms and medical history.
Order and interpret specialized diagnostic tests, including blood work (e.g., autoantibodies, inflammatory markers) and imaging (e.g., X-rays, MRI, ultrasound).
Develop and implement personalized treatment plans involving medications (e.g., DMARDs, biologics, corticosteroids), lifestyle modifications, and referrals to other specialists.
Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and disease self-management strategies.
Monitor disease activity, treatment efficacy, and potential side effects through regular follow-up appointments and adjust therapies as needed.
