Overview
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) are first responders who provide critical pre-hospital care. They respond to 999 calls, assess patients on scene, and provide life-saving treatment during ambulance transport to hospital. Staying calm under pressure, performing CPR, and managing trauma are critical to every shift. They stabilize patients, administer medication, and relay vital information to hospital staff.
Provides immediate medical care to individuals in emergencies, often making the difference between life and death. Ensures safe and timely transport of patients to appropriate medical facilities, and offers comfort and reassurance during stressful situations.
On the job
- Respond to emergency calls, driving ambulances safely and quickly to the scene.
- Assess patient conditions, identify medical problems, and determine the appropriate course of treatment.
- Administer basic life support, including CPR, oxygen, and wound care.
- Transport patients to hospitals or other medical facilities, monitoring their condition en route.
- Document patient information, medical history, and care provided accurately and efficiently.
