On the job
- Set up and operate conventional and CNC lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other machine tools.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine dimensions and tolerances.
- Select appropriate cutting tools, coolants, and speeds/feeds for different materials and operations.
- Measure and inspect finished components using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Assemble, fit, and align mechanical parts and sub-assemblies according to specifications, often performing adjustments and repairs.
