This role involves precise measurement, cutting, and installation of drywall, followed by the application of multiple layers of joint compound and careful sanding to achieve a seamless, high-quality surface ready for painting or other decorative finishes.

Ensures the structural integrity and aesthetic quality of interior surfaces, contributing to safe, durable, and visually appealing residential and commercial buildings.

On the job

  • Measure and cut plasterboard to fit walls and ceilings, accommodating for architectural features and structural elements.
  • Install plasterboard sheets using screws, nails, or adhesives, ensuring proper alignment and secure fastening to framing.
  • Apply successive coats of joint compound (mud) to seams, nail holes, and corners, feathering edges for smooth transitions.
  • Tape joints using paper or mesh tape to reinforce seams and prevent cracking.
  • Sand finished surfaces to achieve a smooth, uniform texture, preparing them for painting or wallpapering.
