On the job

Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, including setting up sterile drapes, surgical instruments, and equipment.
Maintain a sterile field throughout the operation, monitoring for any breaks in aseptic technique.
Pass instruments, sponges, and other supplies to surgeons and surgical assistants during procedures.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure instruments and supplies are available when required.
Account for all instruments, sponges, and sharps before, during, and after surgery to prevent retained foreign objects.
