Overview

Installs, maintains, and repairs passenger and freight elevators, escalators, moving walkways, and other lift systems. This includes testing safety devices, adjusting controls, diagnosing complex electrical and mechanical faults, and replacing worn or defective parts to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently according to all relevant codes and regulations.

Ensures the safe, reliable, and accessible operation of essential vertical transportation systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, directly contributing to public safety and infrastructure functionality.

On the job

Install new elevator, escalator, and other lift systems according to blueprints, schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
Perform routine preventative maintenance, including lubrication, cleaning, and adjusting components to prolong system lifespan.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic system failures using specialized diagnostic tools.
Repair or replace worn or defective parts such as motors, cables, sheaves, brakes, control panels, and safety devices.
Conduct thorough safety tests and inspections to ensure all systems comply with national, state, and local safety codes and standards.
