On the job
- Read blueprints and specifications to determine materials required, dimensions, and construction procedures.
- Mix mortar and grout by hand or with a mixer to the correct consistency.
- Lay bricks, blocks, or stones in mortar, ensuring courses are level, plumb, and properly aligned.
- Cut and trim masonry units to fit around openings, corners, or irregularities using hand and power tools.
- Clean and finish freshly laid masonry joints by tooling, brushing, or pointing.
